A Redskin Tale

I cant believe you did that

Friday Afternoon:

I was doing my usual walk about the building at work Friday afternoon and I came across our friendly neighborhood security officer manning the front desk.

He is a huge Redskin Fan and has season tickets. So I naturally started talking about the game this weekend. Asked him if he was going and he got this strange look on his face.

Oh yeah, I’m definitely watching it. My dad and I are all psyched up and ready. He said.

Huh?

(I was thinking to myself, did he just say watching – as in on TV?)

I thought you’d be going for sure?

Ummm

(uh oh, he has a look on his face that no fan ever wants to see . . .)

I sold the tickets.

(WHAT! I yelled inside my head – How Could You!) (But the PC and sensitive fan inside my head said . . .)

Oh? Oh yeah, they are really going for prime money. Up to 5 or 6 times their value! Definitely will help pay for all that Christmas shopping. Right.

(Please tell me you are not a complete idiot)

Ummm.

(OMG, what could be worse than selling out for prime cash? . . . )

I sold them after the Carolina game when they were 3 – 6. Thought I did not want to go to a meaningless game out in the elements in December.

(You idiot! – not only did you you fail by not making a huge profit but I bet you sold them right after Shanny said we were in evaluation mode!)

You know what this means don’t you?

(Inside I am actually laughing at him hysterically)

Yeah, I’m a terrible fan.

———————————————————-

I wonder, as the camera pans the crowd today, if our friendly neighborhood security officer will spot his seats up in the stands and see the folks he sold his tickets to?   And think –  that could be me – experiencing one of those incredible events of a life time.

I also wonder what other great stories there are out there about snagging prime tickets to a prime event?

Got any good tales to tell?

Judging By The Laughter

How can you judge a team’s success and value to its fans?

By the amount of laughter you get, or not, when you ask if anybody wants to go in on season tickets.

I have a lot of problems with this email.  (you can see the whole thing by clicking this link) But I will name only two for this post.

First of all:  What Wait List!

You claim all these years that the list is thousands upon thousands of names long , yet when you remove seats for “party decks” and HD Megatron Boards; in theory making the wait longer, suddenly everyone is getting offers for cherished season tickets!  Please, stop insulting us.

Secondly:  Please stop talking about tradition!

Darrell Green had an excellent comment, ironically enough, earlier this week regarding the Redskins and tradition.

You can read about it here.

But the short version is that there is nobody from the past left in the redskin organization to pass that old Redskin tradition on to the next generation of players.

Hopefully, Mike and Bruce realize this, and work to build a new tradition by selecting professional players of character (sounds like a movie doesn’t it) who will become the “old dogs” of the organization and not only develop, but also teach and pass on what it truly means to have a great Redskin Tradition.

Maybe then everyone will stop laughing and actually want all those great season tickets.

Hail Skins!

Going to the Game!

No, not the Redskins…

Caps vs. Devils !!!

So my boys are getting to be addicted hockey fanatics and watch just about every Caps game on TV.

Though not as hooked as they are, I too am a fan of the caps.

Now since none of us have ever been to a game before, I thought it a good idea to see if I could score some tickets.

Originally I was considering a game close to my birthday in December. The Caps play division rival Carolina on the 11th which would be great, except the only set of 3 tickets left available were on the Club level. Great seats, but lots of $$$.

So I looked around at other games in December and came up with the Jersey Devils on the 26th. And low and behold, they had 3 decently priced tickets available in the top section near the corner. Perfect! A good game which makes for a great combination birthday and Christmas present to myself and the boys.

Hey! I’m already done with half my Christmas shopping!!! 😉

Of course, now I need some good Caps gear to wear to the game… hint hint…

Take me off the list

Yet another reason two more reasons to not want season tickets and hate Snyder!!!

Selling tickets eligible for season ticket holders to brokers.

Screwing the fans and double dipping.

And here is a short interactive page detailing the money mongering events.
