The Washington Redskins Defense Has Respect!

– for Aaron Rodgers.

With some real NFL teams and Fantasy Players not quite living up to expectations during week 1, is it any wonder that some fans are feeling . . .

Here are some more interesting twists of fate and stats to mull over after just 1/16th of the season is over.

Teams threw for 8,143 yards and scored 63 TDs — the most ever in a single week of pro football.  At the same time, a record 12 games were decided by seven points or fewer.

If you don’t think turnovers are important in this high scoring offensive NFL, consider this:
There were:
47 Fumbles (24 lost)
34 Interceptions
That equals 58 turnovers!

With 12 games decided by seven or fewer points, turnovers and controlling the ball is vital to victory.
Still not a believer?

Just ask the Giants and Redskins. . .

or

Consider this interesting statistic.
The top 16 teams that turned the ball over the most last week had a combined 4 – 12 record.
The bottom 16 teams that turned the ball over least had a combined  12 -4.

Does it get any more exciting than this?

Yes, read on !!!

After just one week in the NFL, we have witnessed an event of biblical proportions!
The first shall be last and the last shall be first.
– Welcome to the AFC North!
All these teams are 0 – 1.

Remember, there are still 15 more games in the season and on any given Sunday, anything can happen.

hocus pocus

It seems every year I either read or hear about something in sports that athletes, teams, or coaches try to do or use in order to gain an advantage.

This year is no different. In fact, I have heard of two such ideas. One such craze is the wearing of magnetic bracelet.

It seems the latest craze to hit the professional sports scene are these magnetic bracelets and necklaces which are supposed to have healing and performance enhancement characteristics.

I hate to burst the medical bubble on this one but HOGWASH. This is just stupid.

The second such crazy idea is more technology based and is meant to take the guess work out of officiating.

Microchips in footballs. Supposedly somebody had the idea that these microchips could be used to signal a goal or first down or proper placement on the field.

Again, I hate to burst this bubble, but DOUBLE HOGWASH!

I propose that if you really want to improve the sport, we combine the two!

Magnetic gloves worn by athletes and thin metallic threads woven into the football. The combination of the two would help alleviate a common malady in all sports.

Dropping the ball.
