C’mon Man – Jim Tressel !

Now that it is all said and done that Jim Tressel will not be a collegiate football coach or anything collegiate for that matter with the 5 year  “show cause” ban, the question is what will Jim Tressel do next?

We all know he is a game day replay consultant for the miserable Colts.  It is not beyond anybody’s stretch of  imagination to see that Jim Caldwell could very easily be out of work after this season.  So, will good ol’ Jim get the nod for coaching the Colts next season?

Maybe.

But there are a ton of other teams with very near term coaching vacancies.  And as always with the NFL, TONS OF POSSIBILITIES!

Todd Bowles – Miami Dolphins.  But everybody is talking Gruden or Cowher for that position.  If that happens, will the networks pick up Tressel to replace them?  Would anybody watch him as an announcer?

Pat Shurmur – Cleveland Browns.  Holmgren has not loyalties and good ol’ pat could be thrown under the bus.  Question is, would Holmgren take this kind of chance with Tressel?  Tressel would at least be back in Ohio.

Marvin Lewis – Cincinnati Bengals.  Local to Ohio, yes.  But sorry Marvin has done just enough (IMHO) to keep his job and besides, Mike Brown is too cheap.  Though, here is an interesting twist . . .

Mel Tucker – Jacksonville Jaguars.  There has been talk of Jay Gruden leaving the Bengals to mold the Jags and their embattled QB into shape.  It’s a long shot but maybe Tressel could work for Marvin . . . hmmmm, no never mind.

Romeo Crennel  – KC Chiefs.  Possibly but I see them going a different route and not even thinking about Tressel.  Though, I’ve been wrong before. . .

John Fox – Denver Broncos.  If you had asked anybody back in September they would have said anybody but John.  Now, I would nominate him for coach of the year for changing the offensive scheme to Tebow’s talents.  Sorry, Sly Foxy Johnny is staying.

Norv Turner – San Diego Chargers.  If Norv is still there, or their wonder boy GM A.J. Smith for that matter, after this year, I would be shocked.  And it is not that SoCal has an aversion to controversy.  Tressel could actually end up here.

Andy Reid – Philadelphia Eagles.  Possibly gone but they held on to Donovan to the bitter end, they will probably do so with good ol boy Andy.  At least for one more year.

Mike Shanahan – Washington Redskins.  I would be remiss if I did not include ol’ Danny Boy in with a coaching carrousel / scandal / conspiracy.  But sorry, I actually think he will give Bruce and Mike the full 5 years.

Leslie Frazier – Minnesota Vikings.  Again, I would be remiss if I did not include Ziggy’s team in something like this, but Ziggy has shown loyalty to coaches before, and he will do so again.  Besides, I am not sure if the problems with the Vikings are all Fraziers fault.  I see Ziggy moving the team before changing coaches.

Raheem Morris – Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Another good possibility but I think Raheems biggest problem is not necessarily his players, but rather his coaches and staff.  Maybe Tressel could slide in here for a good fit?

Ken Wisenhunt – Arizona Cardinals.  Not yet, but give him time to screw up some more and he will be out of a job too.

Pete Carroll – Seattle Seahawks.  He needs a QB.  Look for the Seahawks to be big players in the Luck / QB draft battle.  But I’ve called them the NCAA detention center before, and I will do it again.  It would only be fitting for Tressel to go there in some capacity but I just don’t see it.

Steve Spagnuolo – St. Louis Rams.  Yup he’s gone.  Or at least should be.  How he has stayed this long is amazing to think about too.  Could this be a landing spot for Tressel?  Sorry, not even the Rams are that sadistic for controversy.  But now that I have said that, it will probably happen.

So, Jim Tressel, C’mon Man!  What are you going to do next?

Coach?

Announcer?

Consultant?

Or how about this:  A NFL College Scout!

A good Sports Day for Washington

Shanahan agrees to coach Redskins:

And… Snyder was not on the stage. In fact, he was in the audience at Redskin Park. Bruce Allen handled all the ceremonies and introductions. A first for Danny.

Could this be a coincidence?
Perhaps a cosmic tie, or trait, within the cosmic force of great coaches?

No wonder Jim Zorn is having so much trouble… 😉

So to find out more, I took a quick trip out to SimplyNumbers.com to do a highly accurate and scientific analysis of this cosmic rumor.

Here are the results:

The Two Person: Cooperative, Mediator, Balanced, Gregarious

As a two individual you enjoy sharing your life with others, and feel lonely when you do not have someone to share your experiences with.

Even though you enjoy being with people you may at times hold parts of yourself back, and not let everyone see the true creative, and caring parts of yourself.

You can flourish at activities, and pursuits which enable you to bring out the best in others.

Life for you can be very pleasant if it centers in and around the home, with lots of people you enjoy being with. Although wandering with a friend may be exciting for you as well.

OK, so Mike Holgren sounds like a really good, outgoing, successful kind of guy.

Lets see what they say about the other Mike…

The One Person: Independent, Determined, Individual, Brash

We all know people like this! They are the headstrong, determined individuals who constantly strive for more. It is okay, although difficult, for them if everything does not go their way. They usually have a set course of action, and will follow it to completion, and you should follow their instructions.

These people do well in roles where they have relative autonomy, with good reliable friends and associates in the background. Their secret is that they really need support although they rarely will ask for it.

These people have a magical flare about them, and it may seem like they have the knack for manifesting their needs at a whim. However they tend to blend this magical side of themselves, with an air of practicality. Their motto is (Get the job done, and then we can celebrate..).

So there you have it.

Mike vs. Mike

Who would you want as a coach?

Who do you think Snyder would want?

Who do you think will want to work for Snyder?

at this juncture…

Oh palease!

I hate talk like this but, of course, I should not be surprised. Everyone, from players, to personnel, to management and yes, even sports prognosticators…

They all talk the talk.

I was driving home listening to the radio and Coach Zorn was talking about the start of training camp and yes, the topicality of the day Michael Vick.

“Well, I think Michael’s on his journey. … I want to wish the best for him. I think there’s a way that he and Roger Goodell have created to find his way back into the league,” Zorn said, a day before Washington’s first practice of training camp. “I would just say it won’t be with us, at least at this juncture.”

Translation…

If the Redskins open the season 0 – 2, Ol’ Danny Boy will be knocking on Micheal’s door.

Here is hoping that Campbell has the breakout year everyone is hoping for!
