Three and Out – For The Week Of July 27

  1. 10,000 Olympians, 20,000 Journalists, at least 1.5 million extra tourists, and only 1700 ATM’s near Olympic Venues . . .  Hmmm what’s in your wallet?  Better bring cash (AKA – British Pounds) and keep it safe.
  2. Heading into the Opening Ceremony, Twitter is already seeing more Tweets about the Olympics in a SINGLE DAY than during the ENTIRE Beijing games in 2008.  You can follow all Olympic happenings on twitter here .
  3. And speaking of twitter, I posted a Chris Cooley Training Camp quote from the Washington Post.  Just to keep things in perspective . . .

HTTR!

And Go USA!

Cheers

And no it is not just Vinni.

Cerrato resigns from Redskins

I’m actually surprised by this announcement. And, as always, there is more to the story and I am sure that more details, announcements and decisions will be made public in the days and weeks to come.

I was actually going to post something quite different regarding the redskins today which involved this quote from Jason Campbell.

It’s not just me improving, I feel like the guys around me have found a way where they’re playing with a lot of confidence,” he said. “We’re all playing together, as a unit. There’s no selfish players on this team right now, offensively or defensively.

And, I was actually going to give Vinni some credit for being bold enough to try something, anything, even bringing in a Bingo Caller, to help run the team. Because, for one reason or another, the Redskins are playing better than they ever have this entire season. Playing better since Jason was benched, Playing better since Mr. Lewis came to town and started calling plays, Playing better ever since the Selfish Premadonas have gotten injured. And we now have a bunch of players who want their shot, want to play, want to win, and do not care about money or contracts or anything else except going out there each weekend and winning.

Heck, who knows, maybe Vinni was really getting knocked around on all sides, including from his buddy Dan, and finally had had enough.

Maybe Vinni wanted to keep the system in place, trade Portis, keep Campbell, heck maybe even trade Cooley for draft picks and build through the draft. And of course, Mr. Dan would not hear of such a thing and finally forced him out.

Now we just wait for Shanahan or some other big Snyder Buddy to arrive and shake things up a bit more.

Of course, the only time Shanahan is and has and ever will be good is when he has a good QB and RB and if Mr. Dan goes shopping this off season, he will have neither.

But who knows. I at least am surprised by the timing and can’t wait for the other shoes to drop….

Cooley Delivers

Chris Cooley is such a great route runner, now you can have him pack and ship your holiday presents!

It’s actually a contest but you really can try and fight through the crowds and get his autograph….

A twist of fate…

So we can add Orton, and Turner to the ever growing list of Ankle biters injuries.

Is it me, or do there seem to be an over whelming amount of injuries to ankles this year?

Looking at last weeks injury report, there were 46, yes 46 !, players with ankle injuries.

Good thing we don’t all have brains in our feet!

Deer Predictions

Is it me, or does Cerrato have that “deer in headlights” look?

So last week I went a miserable 8 – 5 compared to my previous week of 11 – 3.
I’ll blame it on the flu and my bad back…

I did well in my Fantasy Leagues, except Santa ended up with a couple less helpers after all was said and done.
Cooley busted an ankle and Shaun Hill got busted to the bench.

I tried to pick up Alex Smith off the waiver wire but because I’m 2nd overall in the league, my waiver order was 11th and somebody else beat me to it.

So hearing the rumors, I took a chance and picked up Vince Young. I still do not know if I will put him in this week as my Offensive Player or start somebody else like DeSean Jackson or one of my many 2nd rate RB’s instead. But who knows, it just might pay off.

Oh and speaking of RB’s, maybe Beanie Wells, maybe – just might be, turning the corner and coming into his own in the NFL. So I dumped McFadden (who has done nothing) and picked Beanie Boy up as well.

And now for my predictions

Houston Texans @ Buffalo Bills = TEXANS
Cleveland Browns @ Chicago Bears = BEARS
Seattle Seahawks @ Dallas Cowboys = COWBOYS
St. Louis Rams @ Detroit Lions = LIONS
Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers = VIKINGS
San Francisco 49ers @ Indianapolis Colts = COLTS
Miami Dolphins @ New York Jets = DOLPHINS
Denver Broncos @ Baltimore Ravens = RAVENS
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Tennessee Titans = JAGS
Oakland Raiders @ San Diego Chargers = CHARGERS
New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles = GIANTS
Carolina Panthers @ Arizona Cardinals = CARDINALS
Atlanta Falcons @ New Orleans Saints = SAINTS

Until next time …

Be Good. Do Well. Have Fun.

Examples…

First.
If the NFL had a penalty for missed tackles, the Redskins would be in the Hudson River.

But the NFL does not, simply because, if you don’t tackle – you don’t win.
Sadly the Redskins didn’t do this well.

Second.
Trickery doesn’t win games. Execution and controlling the ball does.
Sadly, the Redskins seemed to do this (trickery) more than number 1.

I applaud the Redskins for leading by example, I just wish it were winning examples.

But on the bright side, Cooley had a great game and scored a TD for my Fantasy League and I stand a decent chance of winning not only my match up but top score as well.

After all, when is it comes to football, that is what matters most. Your fantasy football league team.

Right? !!!

In fact, I’ve had several folks ask me that already!!!

“How are you doing?” they ask.

And I smile and say just fine, thank you.

🙂

Counting on 2…

So today it was announced that the redskins have placed Colt Brennan on IR and Chase Daniel is released.

Instead they go with an extra running back. We shall see if 2 QB’s is enough to make it through the season, or if they pick up Chase after waivers for the practice squad.

Here is the list of cuts.

Robbie Agnone TE Undrafted Rookie
Anthony Alridge RB First-year Player
Jeremy Bridges G/T 7-year Vet
Scott Burley T Undrafted Rookie
Alex Buzbee DE First-year Player
Chase Daniel QB Undrafted Rookie
Antonio Dixon DT Undrafted Rookie
Dominique Dorsey RB First-year Player
Doug Dutch CB Undrafted Rookie
Keith Eloi WR Undrafted Rookie
Cody Glenn LB 2009 5th-Round Draft Pick

Lendy Holmes S Undrafted Rookie

Trent Shelton WR First-year Player
J.D. Skolnitsky DE Undrafted Rookie

It is nice to note that the Skins took my advice and dumped Hackett and kept Mason and Mitchell.

OH, and they also listened to me about my flame post regarding the retired old lady. Seems they will not enforce the court ruling afterall.

Totally cool.

And speaking of Cool… as in Cooley. It seems he was asked to host Hot Clicks on CNN Sports Extra Mustard.

Leave it to Cooley to uncover football from cheerleaders to team photos to Fantasy Football and last but not least TMI on the totally Bizarre
