Ouch! Watch The Knife Dude

Instead of Cheese, perhaps they should have said “Watch the knife Dude”.

They say timing is everything, especially when is comes to the composition of a photo, – a photo with guys, cooked meat, a tailgate party and a knife.

As I was surfing through the pictures from the Redskins 80th Anniversary Homecoming Game on Facebook, I noticed one particular photo that was – well, just wrong.

Just Wrong

Carolina In The Mourning

You know the song Carolina in the Morning?

Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina in the morning . . .

Except when your team $#@%’s is losing.

Then the song goes something like this.

Woe is me.

Woe is my team.

Lets have a pity party.

No, wait, lets have a suggestion box.

When things go from bad to worse and your starting QB, who should be a leader, throws a pity party of a suggestion in front of not only the team but the media; then everybody should be cry’n in Carolina.

When your coaching staff does not make best use of the talent it has, and does not come up with a scheme that utilizes ALL resources; then everybody should be cry’n in Carolina.

When you GM appears to be throwing good money after bad; then everybody should be cry’n.

When all this happens, when everything crashes and burns, then everybody should be fired.  In the case of the Panthers, the first to go was GM Marty Hurney.

NOT the coach.

Not the assistant coaches or the coordinators (as mister suggestion box seemed to allude to).

Though you can get bet your last dollar (if you have any left betting on the Panthers this season) that they all see the writing on the wall.

So, why the GM?

Simple answer.  Jerry Richardson, the owner, the guy providing all the money, did not see good Return On Investment.   And neither have the fans.

Hurney was responsible for building the team.  He said so himself.  He spent the money.  He helped make personnel decisions, which coaches to hire, who to draft, and (a particular sore spot for the owner and the fans) who to sign contract extensions for.

As Hurley was walking out the door he said that the team and the locker room needed some leadership (somebody to take hold of the locker room and team) and people to step up.  He also said that he felt there were folks already there who could, and should, do that.

AKA Cam Newton and the Head Coach and his staff.

No, Hurley was not the problem.  Rather it is the mix of personnel and talent that he has put in place that does not mesh well.  And so Richardson is mixing things up, sending a message that folks better get their act into gear and make some changes or everything and everybody could be crying even more at the end of the season.

Nobody is safe.

And if things continue the way they have been, then all this talent, time and money invested in this team would have been thrown down the drain and wasted.

And that would be a pity.

This week we saw –

Pike called up from the nether worlds to take command beside his highly effective offensive line and teammates.

BTW – That would be Tony Pike of the Carolina Panthers. Not Captain Pike of Star Trek but hey, I could not resist.

The Panthers burned through Matt Moore and Jimmy Clausen and finally called Pike to get him some playing time because , well, just because.

With seemingly ever star name either out or on the bench, this team is really hurting.

But honestly, I can’t decide who is hurting more. Panthers, Bills or Cowboys.

The Bills proved that they stink no matter what country they are in.

They Cowboys proved that there is no low too low for them to go this year.

If I were Jason Garrett, and thank god I’m not, I’d be worried.

Hey Jason, here is a tip from a devoted Redskins fan. Keep calling up those wonderful passing plays!

And on a more positive note.

The Browns took it to Uncle Bill and the Pats! (I actually picked that one in my pickem league)

I know, everyone else was baffled too.

The Redskins didn’t lose.

And I am still winning the division in both my leagues thanks in part to my being able to (unbelievably) pick up Jacob Tamme off of waivers this week. If he is still available in yours, he is definitely worth a consideration.

!!! UPDATE !!!

Cowboys dot Com site goes down due to registration failure !!!

Default Network Solutions page with two kids playing soccer is shown instead of all the wonderful personnel and player headlines !!!

Ha ! Ha ! Ha !

Offensieve…

Yes, everything about the Redskins is OFFENSIVE.

But I chose sieve for a reason.

We need to separate the good from the bad.

To quote Thomas Boswell from the Washington Post

Snyder and Gibbs had dinner here in Charlotte on Saturday night, according to a Redskins source. Since this is Gibbs’s home, is that irony, intrigue or just appropriate? The day he left Redskins Park, Gibbs said he’d always be available if the owner ever wanted to talk. Okay, don’t all scream at once: “Sell the team to Joe for a dollar.” What Snyder ought to consider is offering Gibbs a piece of the Redskins if he’d just come back, not as a 100-hour-a-week coach but as some form of team president. Here’s the job description: Do whatever it is that Dan and Vinny do. But better.

But there are two problems with this.

1) Vinni and Dan are not going to pony up to this.

2) Which of the currently available multi millionare, egomaniac, hall of fame or future hall of fame coaches would want to inherit this mess?

And to top it all off, it looks like I am going to go 1 for 3 again with my fantasy leagues.

I just had too many injured players or bye week players (in one case BOTH) to adequately cover my team.

Kinda like the Redskins…

😦
