Ike Davis of the New York Mets is being treated for Valley Fever! OMG!
At first this really worried me. Is it contagious? Was he some place sketchy? Went on a trip to some strange land and has become the contagion?
In reality, it is none of the above. Apparently it is a fungal infection known to be from dry arid climates. Ike hails from Arizona where the condition is more common. He is not being treated with any medications and is expected to recover from the condition on his own.
But I think we should all be on the look out for strange and unusual symptoms, just in case. Honestly, and perhaps it is just my own warped and ageing mind at work, but the first thing I thought of was this . . .
Let’s hope Ike does not start talking like this.
